    I started on the keto program 7 weeks ago and within a week or so was hamstrung with horrible gluteal muscle cramps that nearly incapacitated me.     I follow a ketogenic diet which causes me to deplete sodium. I don’t really like the taste of salt (I have more of a sweet tooth) so I don’t use very much of it on my food, and drinking salty water makes me queasy even if flavored with something like Mio – I don’t like Gatorade, either. These capsules make it easy for me to get the necessary sodium to avoid “keto flu”, my doctor says that’s a minimum of 3000mg per day. Each one of these capsules contains 850mg salt, which contains approximately 340mg of sodium. I take one with each meal and one before I work out, and my food tracking app says I am getting enough sodium between that and the salt in my food. If I eat something with a lot of sodium like a stir-fry with soy sauce, I skip the salt capsule for that meal. My blood pressure has not raised from the additional sodium, although I also take supplemental potassium and magnesium to balance the sodium.

    I’ve been filling my own capsules for 10 years. Himalayan Crystal Salt is part of my Lyme protocol and I take 12 of these capsules a day. I’m tired of filling capsules and thought I’d see if this splurge is worth it.I cannot confirm the quality of the Himalayan Salt, yet, but I have no reason to think it’s different than what I buy in bulk. The bag of 540 only contained 528 and there’s quite a bit of loose salt in the bag but I would have expected that as it happens to me, too, when I encapsulate the salt.Bottom line is: if money is no object, this is a great convenience.Update: The company has revised the amount of salt in each capsule. Instead of listing 1,000 mg (1 gram) of salt, they now claim it’s 850 mg each capsule which makes more sense.The first 2 times I bought this I paid $24.95 for the bag of 540. The last time I paid the $37.50 price tag but won’t be ordering any more. I’ll encapsulate my own again.
